A couple of days ago, an exhibition called "Vor uns die Sintflut" was opened in Stralsund. Official link: http://www.die-sintflut.de/ SINCOS participates with two posters and the well known DFG-Science-TV-movies. Some impressions are available in our gallery.

Dear colleagues: This is the first official announcement for the final Workshop of our SINCOS project. On May 14/15, 2009 we will come together at Warnemünde for the presentation of our final results from phases SINCOS-I and SINCOS-II. You all are cordially invited to attend and requested to present the results of your studies within the frame of our interdisciplinary project.
Please, note the dates. We will come back with you and more details.

Modern look of an old journal:
The "Schriften des Naturwissenschaftlichen Vereins für Schleswig-Holstein" are reviewed now by international peers and so they offer a new international platform for publications of all disciplines of natural science. The publication of the submitted articles takes place on-line immediately after end the review-process. As publication date the day of publication of the on-line version is considered. The print-version of the "Schriften" are subscribed from 412 libraries in 56 states world-wide, in Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Australia. In addition they are listed as a scientific on-line journal in several electronic databases. They are published and produced without commercial interests.
All SINCOS members are invited to use the "Schriften" for publication. For any further information please contact the editor in chief Dr. E. Nikulina.

On November 11th a SINCOS workshop will be held in Greifswald. The program is entitled "Modeling of sediment transport on extended time scales".

Since last week, the German Research Foundation (DFG) presents popular scientific short films on this website: www.dfg-science-tv.de. For SINCOS, twelve contributions were produced. They will be available for the community by weekly updates.

On Tuesday, April 1st, 2008, Birgit Hünicke from the GKSS Research Centre Geesthacht defended successfully her PhD thesis titled: "Atmospheric forcing of decadal Baltic Sea level variability in the last 200 years: A statistical analysis" at Hamburg University, Geosciences Department.

On Monday, January 14, 2008, the fourth SINCOS-II-workshop was held in Dresden. The meeting, organized by our geodetic working group, included also short excursions through the beautiful city of Dresden and to the Institute for Planetary Geodesy. Protocol for internal use can be found here.
Next workshops are planned on October 6, 2008 in Wismar, and in January 2009 in Kiel. The final SINCOS-II-workshop will be held on May 14-15, 2009, in Warnemünde.
